This week’s photo of the week is one of my favorite photos ever. My friend Rebecca and I were in Paris last January just wandering along Île St. Louis and we stopped in front of this butcher shop. I took a photo and then looked down at my camera to change a setting. I snapped another pic and moved along. It wasn’t until I got back to the apartment that I noticed that in the 10 seconds I had looked down at my camera and then recomposed, every single person in the shop had turned to look at the tourist at the window with a camera!
I am thrilled to finally be able to show you guys the web development project that kept me so busy while my knee was down and out. I am very proud of the results! A few months ago, Sang Lee of SJL Attorney Search asked me to redesign their website. Not only that, but she wanted me to do all of the photos for the site as well! Sang and the recruiters at SJL are dear friends of mine, and it was my pleasure to undertake this project for them. I designed and built every bit of their new website, and I also did the headshots and office photos that you see on the site. Here is a little Brady-Bunch-like composite of the beautiful faces of SJL:
Be sure to check out the website, too. If you are an attorney in need of some career assistance, these are the people to call!

Last week I had the most fun shooting a belly bump session with Meredith and Joe. They are completely adorable! I’m so excited to show you some of my favorites from our shoot:

Check out the slideshow to see the full set:
Thanks, Meredith & Joe! I absolutely can’t wait to photograph that baby girl in March!

We love the photos so much, Laura! You did an incredible job of making us look good and the session was great fun. We are so excited to do a full year of shoots with you once our baby makes her appearance!
Photo of the Week is back with a story board of our recent vacation in Jamaica…

I am a little late getting started this year, huh? Last November, two days after I second shot Kelly & Jonathan’s wedding (a post will be coming soon), I injured my knee while away on a business trip. Long story short, I had to have surgery in December, but thankfully my knee is really mending quickly and is almost better! I’ve been using the “downtime” to work on the business side of Laura Boyd Studio a lot and also tackle a huge web development project that I’ll be able to show you soon. I was able to redesign my own site, too! The blog has it’s own home now at lauraboydblog.com, while my studio site is still over at lauraboydstudio.com (but with an all new look!).
It really feels like I haven’t rested much since I hurt my knee! This month I’ve been a busy bee shooting headshots for the website project I was doing plus I shot my first maternity shoot, which was so much fun! I’ll be sharing all of those photos soon, I promise. And in between shoots, I headed out to two wedding photography conferences: Mystic 5 in Connecticut and DWFC in Nashville. These conferences ROCKED MY WORLD, y’all! I can’t tell you how inspired I am for this year and everything that it holds.
Here are at least two things ahead in 2010 that make me very happy: a really exciting project in conjunction with Rocket Hub , which will be launching VERY VERY SOON, and the launch of my boudoir photography site, which will happen in March.
It doesn’t feel right to write without posting a photo, so I’ll share an image that got me through my knee surgery and the weeks after. In between my injury and my surgery, we went to Jamaica for six nights. For a hot second, we thought we should cancel the trip, but I decided that if I could just make it through the travel part, getting to a lounge chair with a book and a nice sea breeze would be the very best thing for me. Thank goodness we went! It was pure heaven. And here was my view from the infinity pool:

OK, I’ve been up all night web designing! It’s 3am and officially time for bed!

I like doors, and I tend to take lots of pictures of them on my travels. This one is from Savannah, GA. I just loved the weathered look and the shades of green.
