I am a little late getting started this year, huh? Last November, two days after I second shot Kelly & Jonathan’s wedding (a post will be coming soon), I injured my knee while away on a business trip. Long story short, I had to have surgery in December, but thankfully my knee is really mending quickly and is almost better! I’ve been using the “downtime” to work on the business side of Laura Boyd Studio a lot and also tackle a huge web development project that I’ll be able to show you soon. I was able to redesign my own site, too! The blog has it’s own home now at lauraboydblog.com, while my studio site is still over at lauraboydstudio.com (but with an all new look!).
It really feels like I haven’t rested much since I hurt my knee! This month I’ve been a busy bee shooting headshots for the website project I was doing plus I shot my first maternity shoot, which was so much fun! I’ll be sharing all of those photos soon, I promise. And in between shoots, I headed out to two wedding photography conferences: Mystic 5 in Connecticut and DWFC in Nashville. These conferences ROCKED MY WORLD, y’all! I can’t tell you how inspired I am for this year and everything that it holds.
Here are at least two things ahead in 2010 that make me very happy: a really exciting project in conjunction with Rocket Hub , which will be launching VERY VERY SOON, and the launch of my boudoir photography site, which will happen in March.
It doesn’t feel right to write without posting a photo, so I’ll share an image that got me through my knee surgery and the weeks after. In between my injury and my surgery, we went to Jamaica for six nights. For a hot second, we thought we should cancel the trip, but I decided that if I could just make it through the travel part, getting to a lounge chair with a book and a nice sea breeze would be the very best thing for me. Thank goodness we went! It was pure heaven. And here was my view from the infinity pool:

OK, I’ve been up all night web designing! It’s 3am and officially time for bed!
